The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC, "Treasures of Area Zero"

The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC, “Treasures of Area Zero,” showcased some exciting new features for the upcoming RPG game. Gym leader rematches and minigames were just some of the highlights, but some fans were quick to notice a peculiar new feature for one of the legendary Pokemon – Raikou. The electric-type legendary’s new Paradox form, Raging Bolt, has a long, goofy neck that some say resembles that of a Brachiosaurus, and some fans are not happy about it.

While Raging Bolt’s new look is not the only thing upsetting some fans, its neck has been the center of some rather upsetting fan art and memes. Some fans say the legendary looks more like a giraffe, while others have taken to making memes and poking fun at the Pokemon’s newfound neck.

The official art for Raging Bolt has its own controversy, with some noting the cloud around its head is intended to be like a vet visit for the Pokemon, and others simply calling it “ugly.”

There are certainly some Raikou admirers out there, but the general consensus seems to be that the new legendary looks like a dinosaur. While some may find this endearing, others are taking it as an opportunity to make a joke at the legendary’s expense.

Other New Forms

The two other new forms revealed during the Pokemon Game Showcase were Applin (Dipplin) and Duraludon (Archuladon). Both of these legendary Pokemon also have new forms, and they, too, have been the subject of some less-than-flattering fan art and memes.
