A Pokemon Wiglet Plushie with a Controversial Design
A Pokemon Wiglet plushie is getting a lot of attention thanks to its “controversial” design, as the Pokemon reveal sparks a social media frenzy with jokes, GIFs, and puns galore. It’s not hard to see why, either, as the plushie raises eyebrows with its rather phallic resemblance, and its design which includes a pink-tipped “tail” and a smooth, almost snake-like appearance.
The Pokemon Wiglet Plushie was revealed by Eurogamer, as part of a range of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet merchandise. It immediately sparked a flood of suspicious GIFs and jokes, with Twitter users poking fun at the toy’s suggestive appearance.
“It’s a Wiglet,” one tweet reads, alongside a GIF of a rotating Wiglet and the caption, “and this is how I sell it to my family.”
“The Wiglet is literally a fluffy penis,” another comments, while a third reads, “The Wiglet is literally a fluffy d–k.”
Others make more lighthearted references to the plush toy’s name, with one tweet reading, “when I first saw the Wiglet I thought it was Wiggle and Waggle,” alongside a GIF of two waving Wigglytuffs.
“Wiglet’s got a waggle,” another Twitter user replies, alongside a GIF of a bouncing Wigglet, and the caption, “If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you’re probably young.”
Others poke fun at the design more directly, with one comment reading, “it’s just a Wiglet with a tail,” alongside a GIF of a Wigglytuff and a Tailow.
Another adds, “if you think the Wiglet is just a normal cotton tail, then you’re very wrong,” alongside a GIF of a Wigglet and a Teddiursa.
Some question whether the design was intentional, sharing a quote retweet which reads, “the creator of the Wiglet knows exactly what they are doing.”
Others express skepticism, with one comment reading, “I wonder how many people in the design team actually thought about how it would look and had the confidence to say ‘nah, this is how it’s going to be’.”
Adding to the mix are innocent questions about size options, which add more innuendos to the mix.
The Wiglet’s phallic resemblance has been noted since the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, when a Reddit glitch clip involving the little creature went viral. The ongoing “joke” added to the Wiglet plushie’s suspicious appearance, and its smooth and snake-like appearance added to the controversy.
The Pokemon Wiglet plushie is available to buy for £18.99 in the UK and $24.99 in the US. It comes with a solid base to keep it upright, but we’re not sure it will do much to keep your friends and family off of it.
