Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best games of 2023, but some players on Reddit criticize Rockstar's latest release. These users claim that Rockstar is raking in the cash from GTA 5, so it doesn't need to put much effort into its other games. However, others argue that the success of GTA 5 is actually funding the development of new games, allowing Rockstar to take its time and create high-quality products.

Some Red Dead Redemption 2 players claim that Rockstar is simply releasing games because they know they will sell, regardless of quality. "They're releasing games because they know they'll make money regardless of how rushed they are," one user writes. "I'm not saying RDR2 is rushed, but it's definitely not as good as GTA5," they continue, echoing many other players' sentiments.

"It's embarrassing because they have the money from GTA5 and they don't even try to make new games," another user writes. "They should use their resources for Red Dead Redemption 2 to make a new Max Payne or Bully 2." Some even go as far as to suggest that Rockstar is "desperate" because it has been a decade since GTA 5.

On the other hand, many Red Dead Redemption fans point out that Rockstar has released plenty of games in the gap between GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. "Between GTA5 and RDR2 we got GTA Online, Bully 2, Agent Cooper, and the dinos," one user writes. "There's also been a change in development," they continue. "Before, Rockstar would rush to get a game out, but now they're focusing on improving the game engine, mechanics, and art."

"If you think RDR2 is rushed, you'd rather have them release unfinished, unpolished games instead?" another user responds, mocking those who are criticizing Rockstar. Another user quotes Take Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, "We don't simply port our games. We make enhancements for the new technology."

There's also a discussion about whether Red Dead Redemption will come to PS4, with some users pointing out that a Red Dead Redemption 2 PSN page has been discovered, suggesting a port may be on the way. The official Rockstar website shares a quote from Zelnick, "We don't simply port our games. We make enhancements for the new technology."

Finally, some Red Dead Redemption 2 players say they are waiting for the physical release to buy the game, hoping it will get a lower price down the line.
