Red Dead Redemption 2 is receiving a lot of YouTube dislikes. While the Rockstar game is likely to be a success, many players are expressing frustration that other Rockstar games are on PC and they want the cowboy game to be available on their computer as well. Some users even believe that Rockstar is holding onto a remastered version of RDR2 for a quick cash influx.

Players are frustrated that a game like Bloodborne, which launched as an exclusive on the PS5, isn’t available on PC. The discussion then leads to Red Dead Redemption being available on next-generation consoles, with some wondering if RDR2 will be ported to the Switch.

Many players have conspiracy theories about Rockstar holding onto RDR2 for a potential remastered version of the game. An argument is made that the studio could release the game on PC at a later date and receive an influx of cash from players who skipped the initial release.

Some players also mention their frustrations with exclusive games like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 not being available on PC. There is a large discussion about the potential for RDR2 in the RDR2 engine with expanded content and a continuation of the story.

A humorous comment says, “‘We can’t make RDR2 for PC because we’re a small indie dev company with limited resources’. Okay then, what’s this?” The user then shares a photo of a poster for Halo 3: Recon, which was developed by Rockstar North.

A software engineer says, “It’s not easy to port a game like that if it wasn’t planned during initial development, especially if they didn’t do it with RDR1.” The user then says it is possible to make a PC port, but it wouldn’t be “as easy as clicking a button.”

The comments then turn to whether or not a PC port of the game would be financially viable. Some users argue that it would make a lot of money, while others say Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC wouldn’t make enough cash.

A user shares a comment from YouTube user ‘Chazzyh’ about the potential for Uncharted 4 on PC. They say, “Sony managed to port Uncharted 4 to PC, R* could have done RDR1 work.” They then share arguments from both sides of the debate, with some suggesting the port would be profitable and others saying it wouldn’t bring in enough money.

The comments then turn to the cost and resources required for a PC port. Some users say it’s a bad business decision to not release the game on PC, while others point out that Rockstar likely has more information than random Redditors.

“PC is a lot more involved than just flipping a switch,” one user says. “It’s not just a matter of porting the game from x86 to x64; the game code itself would need to be rewritten to account for all the nuances of PC development.”

Another user replies, “To some degree, yes, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that PC development is just incredibly complex. It’s like trying to make an air conditioner work in people who build their own cars.”

There are also a lot of sarcastic comments about how Rockstar is being lazy by not releasing RDR2 on PC. Some users bring up the issue of compatibility with Linux and Mac, while others suggest Red Dead Redemption 2 could be ported to the Switch.
