Need help defeating Remnant 2 Gwendil The Unburnt? This fearsome boss is one of the most difficult that you will face in the game. Nevertheless, if you have the proper preparations, knowledge of her attack pattern, and general awareness of the environment, then you have a good chance at defeating her.
Gwendil The Unburnt is a fairly major boss in the Losomn area of Remnant 2. Defeating her is necessary for a specific storyline in Losomn. We recommend reading our Losomn overview to get an idea of what this storyline is. But if you just want to get to the boss fight, then read on.
Understanding Gwendil The Unburnt’s attack pattern and the environment is crucial for success. You will be battling her in specific locations that have hazards that can easily cause your death – we’ll get to that soon. As a World Boss, she also summons enemies throughout the fight.
The Losomn region of Remnant 2 features three randomized areas: Yaesha, Losomn, and N’Erud. The order that you visit these areas can differ, and each has its own unique storyline. We’ve gone through all three of these areas multiple times, and we can confirm that the Beatific Palace entrances are where you’ll find Gwendil.
Cotton’s Kiln is the area just before the Beatific Palaces, and it introduces new enemies alongside Gwendil. As you might expect, the enemies in Cotton’s Kiln are flammable and can be burned by either melee weapons or firearms.
Gwendil is atop buildings, so melee weapons will do no damage to her. She is also on fire, so bullets will work against her, but melee weapons will not. Pools of oil are found throughout the Cotton’s Kiln area, and these can be ignited by Gwendil’s grenades or by player contact.
Gwendil will summon additional enemies throughout the fight. The ones that you’ll commonly see are the Cotton Wraiths and the Fire Wraiths. The Cotton Wraiths are just Cotton enemies that are flammable, while the Fire Wraiths are flammable enemies that are also on fire. Bullets will cause flammable enemies to ignite themselves, while melee weapons will not. Fire Wraiths will also take additional damage from fire-based weapons.
Gwendil’s main attack is throwing grenades at the player, which she will do plenty of during the fight. These grenades deal heavy damage and also leave a burning effect that deals damage over time. They are hard to dodge, but you can run or dash to get out of their way. Stepping on oil increases the burning damage and duration.
If you want to combat the fire boss without having to worry about being on fire, then you can purchase a burn-resistant potion from the alchemist in Cotton’s Kiln. You’ll also have an advantage against the enemies summoned throughout the fight.
When you’re in the Cotton’s Kiln area, you’ll want to stay in the middle of the buildings as much as possible. This way, you’ll have the most room to dodge the projectiles that Gwendil is throwing your way.
