The Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales Reach 5 Million in Just Two Days
The Resident Evil 4 Remake has reached 5 million sales, surpassing its predecessor, Resident Evil: Village, by two months as Capcom celebrates the Umbrella Corps update for the horror game. The remake, which launched in June 2022, achieved this milestone in just two days, a feat that took the original game a full year to accomplish.
In a press release, Capcom says the remake's sales numbers have improved its position on the company's platinum titles list. Currently ranked at number 14, it's the highest debut on the list for a remake.
"The positive reception from customers following the release of the remake of one of the most beloved titles in the series, combined with the release of The Mercenaries DLC mode, have driven sales of the game," Capcom says. "In just two days following the launch of the DLC, the game's sales surpassed the total sales volume of the original Resident Evil 4."
The original Resident Evil 4 is considered a seminal game in the third-person shooter genre, influencing titles like Dead Space and Gears of War. The success of the Resident Evil remakes indicates a desire for a more classic Resident Evil experience.
Capcom concludes the press release by expressing its commitment to creating entertaining gameplay experiences in the survival horror genre.
"We are thrilled that our customers have embraced the reimagined Resident Evil 4," it says. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to creating entertaining gameplay experiences in the survival horror genre, and we look forward to sharing more with our fans in the future."
