You’ll need to do so early on in the survival game, as the cannibals on the island aren’t to be messed with – unless, of course, you want to end up on their dinner table. Thankfully, though, you don’t need to worry as much once you have the items to build it in the Open-world game.

The latest patch also introduced the hokey pokey trap and the ability to seat up to four players in the golf cart, but you’ll have to be on the island to discover these for yourself. Whether you’re exploring or just starting out, though, here’s how to build an electric fence in Sons of the Forest.

How to build the electric fence in Sons of the Forest

You’ll need to collect sticks, wires, and solar panels to be able to build the electric fence. Sticks are easy to come by, as you can just chop down trees, but wires and solar panels are a bit trickier to obtain.

Sticks

You can build a stick fence by holding the build button and selecting sticks. Place the stick fence and place the solar panel nearby on a flat surface.

Wires

You can find wires in crates, shelves, and abandoned camps. If these are in areas with cannibals, you can either wait until the area is clear, or use the distraction device to draw their attention away.

Solar panels

Solar panels are a bit rarer, and might require further exploration to locate. You’ll know you’re nearby when you hear an audible beep.

Once you have the items, it’s as simple as building a stick fence and placing the solar panel nearby on a flat surface. Run wire through the fence, and make a connection between the fence and the solar panel. Now, any cannibal trying to enter your base will be in for a shock.
