The Missing Owner: How to Complete the Side Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Looking to complete the side quest “The Missing Owner” in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? The DLC introduces numerous side quests for Link to undertake if in need of Tears of the Kingdom oil, Fragmented Hearts, or Spirit Orbs. One of these quests takes place in the open-minded Gerudo Town in southwestern Hyrule and centers around the search for a missing owner of a jewelry store.
In Gerudo Town, Link encounters Isha, an armorer, and her apprentice, Cara. As Link explores the refuge, he learns that Isha went out to search for materials before the upheaval and has yet to return. Concerned for her safety, Cara asks Link to assist. This initiates the “The Missing Owner” side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Finding the Missing Jewelry Store Owner in Tears of the Kingdom
To begin the quest, head to Gerudo Town in the southwestern corner of Hyrule. You can find Cara in the shelter beneath the town or inside the Jewelry Shop. She informs Link that the store’s owner set out to search for materials before the upheaval and has not returned.
Isha mentioned heading to the Toruma Dunes, located west of the town. You can reach the Toruma Dunes on foot or fast-travel to the Gerudo Canyon Bridge and take the northern exit to reach the dunes. Use the Sand Boots to walk on the water at the entrance to reduce the risk of falling. When you arrive in the sandy area, look for a plume of smoke in the distance to locate the missing owner.
It turns out that the owner is the only person being circled by a Molduga, a large sand-dwelling creature. Moldugas are sensitive to movement on the sand, making them relatively easy to deal with. You can use the Time Bomb Zonai device to lure the Molduga out, and then shoot a bomb onto the sand. The Molduga will swallow the bomb, grow in size, and explode. This leaves it vulnerable to attacks.
Focusing on attacking the Molduga’s soft underbelly is the most effective way to defeat it. If it spews sand at you, simply block with your shield. Completing “The Missing Owner” side quest rewards Link with a Diamond.
Returning to Gerudo Town can be a bit of a walk if you’ve just completed the Soryotanog Shrine, but you can fast-travel back if the Sand Boots are among the item drops. If not, you can either walk back or use a mode of transportation, such as the Hover Bike, to make the journey slightly less tedious.
At the Jewelry Shop, Cara expresses her gratitude and rewards Link with a Diamond. Isha explains that her reward is a bit more complicated, as running the shop on her own isn’t ideal. She requests Link to return later to begin the process of crafting the Arms of the Seven in the quest “Pride of the Gerudo.”
That’s all you need to know to complete the “The Missing Owner” side quest in Tears of the Kingdom. Additionally, in the future, you can start the process of crafting the Arms of the Seven through the quest “Pride of the Gerudo” once you've completed certain parts of the main campaign.
