Games filled with drama, intrigue, and emotion are highly recommended by the PC gaming community.

A user asks for games that have made you emotional, and the PC community is more than happy to oblige. In the wake of one request, the thread is filled with examples of emotional games and the reasons they made players cry, laugh, or feel some other strong emotion.

“What are the most emotional games you’ve played and why did they get you there?” asks the original poster. Among the many responses, you’ll find plenty of examples of specific games that have evoked strong emotions, with Mass Effect 3, The Last of Us, and Telltale’s The Walking Dead being frequently named.

“The death of Tali in Mass Effect 3 got me,” writes one user. “I didn’t think I would care about a Quarian that much, but damn, her sacrifice was so impactful.” Another user shares their experience of tearing up during the same sacrifice: “I was in a car, driving down the motorway, and I just couldn’t stop crying. I’m an emotional person and I don’t cry often, so it was quite an experience.”

“The opening sequence of The Last of Us,” comments another. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so worried for a group of characters in a game before.” Other examples include Nier: Automata’s end credits and how they “made me cry like a baby,” and how the ending of To the Moon “completely wrecked me and still does whenever I think about it.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is mentioned a whole lot, as is The Witcher 3, Gears of War 3, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy XV. There are too many to list here, but you can check out the thread for yourself here.

I also shared my emotional reactions to games like Nier: Automata, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and A Plague Tale: Requiem, as well as the heart-wrenching Spiritfarer.

If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy, then you’ll definitely want to read about the emotional impact of the following: Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XVI. We’ve also got an in-depth look at the latest Final Fantasy game, and how it’s different from its predecessors.
