Valve's Original Vision for Heavy in Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 fans were recently treated to a surprising revelation about the game's iconic character, Heavy. In the early stages of development, Heavy sported a short brown mullet, as revealed in a PowerPoint presentation by TF2 art director Moby Francke.

The presentation included several screenshots showcasing the evolution of Heavy's design. These images, featuring untextured and colorless character models, offer a glimpse into the initial concept of the beloved Valve character.

While it was already known that Heavy had a mullet in the Team Fortress 2 beta, these screenshots provide the closest approximation of the original design. Though modders have attempted to recreate Heavy's original hairstyle, none have come close to capturing the essence of Valve's vision.

In February, leaked early TF2 models gave fans a glimpse into the game's development, but the recent screenshots offer a higher resolution and a more detailed look at the original concept. This discovery adds another layer to the rich history of Team Fortress 2, a game that has become a staple in the esports world.

Valve has a track record of reviving cut content and discarded ideas, as seen in the Half-Life and Left 4 Dead communities. It's exciting to think about what the TF2 community might create based on these early concepts.
