A Star Wars Jedi Game Could Be in the Works
A new Star Wars Jedi game could be on the way, as Respawn is looking for new talent to join the studio and work on a “fun” Action-Adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. The well-received Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the previous entry in the series, and, while we don’t know much about this new game, it’s possible that we might finally get the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order that we’ve all been waiting for.
The job ads are specifically for roles related to Star Wars Jedi, such as principal game writer, senior VFX artist, and audio engineer. Respawn will be using Unreal Engine 5 to develop the game.
Before Jedi: Survivor released, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order director Stig Asmussen mentioned the possibility of a third game in the series. Asmussen commented that transitioning from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 would require some retooling, and that he would be happy to see the series become a trilogy and explore new places and ideas.
Jedi: Survivor experienced a short delay before its release, and suffered from performance issues on PC. Respawn has since released patches to address the PC version’s performance problems, and the game now runs smoothly on most setups. Unfortunately, the PC version of Jedi: Survivor has a Metacritic score of 78, lower than the console versions.
In addition to the Jedi series, Respawn is also working on a Star Wars FPS led by Peter Hirschmann, who previously worked on the original Medal of Honor series. There are also many job openings for both the Star Wars FPS and Apex Legends, if you’re looking to join Respawn.
With the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order performance problems mostly fixed, and the possibility of a new entry in the series, it looks like Lucasfilm Games has found a perfect partner in Respawn – one who is willing to learn from their mistakes and make a great Star Wars game.
