Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 is blowing a lot of minds with its over-the-top sniping, gory animations, and impressive world design. If you’re looking for something similar to scratch that sneaky or gory itch, we’ve got nine recommendations that go well beyond the likes of Assassin’s Creed and Hitman.

Far Cry 6

If you love the idea of open gameplay, then there’s no better sniper game than Far Cry 6. You can approach missions stealthily or guns blazing, but either way, you’ll have an opportunity to explore a vast and diverse open world. The setting is quite different, but you do still lead a resistance against a tyrannical regime, similar to Sniper Elite 5 – so there’s that.

Zombie Army 4

If you’re looking for some variety with your sniping, Zombie Army is a spin-off of Sniper Elite, featuring zombie hordes and wacky weapons that turn the undead into dust. As you’d expect, this is much more of an over-the-top shooter, but with more tactical gameplay than Sniper Elite.

Call of Duty: World at War

Set during World War 2, Call of Duty: World at War is a fast-paced FPS that never shies away from the horrors of war. While the Action is often more over-the-top than Sniper Elite, there’s a refreshing balance to it that makes for some intense action-packed battles.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

While Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is still receiving post-launch support, the latest entry in the series offers an open world and tactical gameplay that is a bit more like Sniper Elite 5. There’s a balance between sniping and melee attacks, and a focus on survival that demands you keep your head down.

Hitman

If you’re looking for a series that offers hundreds of ways to take out your enemies, then Hitman is a great bet. Each new entry in the series offers an even bigger, more detailed open world that’s ready to be infiltrated in all kinds of ways. Hitman 3 offers a massive open world to explore, with hundreds of opportunities to take out your targets in creative ways.

Ghost Recon Wildlands

If you’re after a massive open world, then Ghost Recon Wildlands gives you plenty of room to roam. This game focuses on tactical shooting, with the ability to tackle missions with friends if you fancy some company. Each time you complete a mission, you’re left with the choice of what to do next, and a large part of Sniper Elite 5’s appeal is that it offers that freedom.

Metal Gear Solid 5

Metal Gear Solid 5 expands the series with a massive sandbox, full of stealth gameplay, and attention to detail that will leave you gaping at how impressive it all is. If you’re looking for something that offers that kind of depth, this is a series to check out, especially as MGS5 is easily one of the best games on PC.

Rainbow Six: Vegas

Rainbow Six: Vegas is a bit like a refresh of the classic Rainbow Six formula. Each entry in the series focuses on tactical combat, with a diverse set of weapons that you’ll want to master if you plan on taking down enemies from a distance. If you’ve played Siege, you’ll know that Rainbow Six is all about precision, which makes Vegas a great entry point for newcomers.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Fulfil your sniping needs with Wolfenstein 2, a high-octane FPS set in an alternate timeline in which the Nazis won World War 2. While you’ll spend a lot of time blasting Nazis in the face with an array of weapons, you can also take advantage of your sniping skills when the time is right.
