Finding the Best Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Kapp’n takes you to Mystery Islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons based on your gameplay and fortunes told by Katrina, but it’s difficult to determine which island is the best one. There’s a 78% chance of landing on a regular island, and a 22% chance of landing on a special seasonal island.

While you can always make the most of the island you land on, there’s always the chance you could have landed on a better one. That’s why we’re here to help you pinpoint where you’ll find the best Gyroid fragments, crops, and fortune, and how to increase your chances of reaching these locations.

The worst regular island has absolutely nothing special about it, but gyroid fragments you find while exploring the island will turn into clay. The same goes for the worst seasonal island, which also doesn’t have anything special about it, other than the fact that you’ll likely never be able to visit it again if Celeste discovers it.

The best regular island has a 39% chance of landing on it: it looks plain on arrival, but has crops like tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, wheat, pumpkins, or sugarcane already growing. Another regular island has a 28% chance of having crops already growing, but it’s more likely to be barren.

The best seasonal island is perpetually night, with stars and rare fragments. There’s only a 3% chance of landing on this island, which you can easily boost by playing the game on June 15 or December 15.

Once you’ve explored an island, the game also tells you whether it’s a bamboo island, autumn island, winter island, cherry blossom island, summer island, fall island, or vines and glowing moss island.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Fortune Island

The island with bamboo has May 31 as its first day. This island has bamboo, pink trees, and pink petals floating through the air.

The autumn island has mushrooms, warm-colored trees, and the winter season, featuring winter fish and insects.

The winter island is the snowiest island and has winter fish and insects. You can find this island after experiencing winter in the game.

The cherry blossom island has pink trees and petals floating in the air, alongside palm trees and blue summer shells.

The summer island is populated with sharks, palm trees, and blue summer shells. Sharks can be found on every island, but are more likely to appear on a summer island.

The fall island features red trees, maple leaves, and elusive DIYs. You can find this island after experiencing autumn in the game.

The vines and glowing moss island is similar to the bamboo island with its pink trees. The vines and moss are much more prominent on this island, alongside plumeria bushes.

The best island is the one with the glowing moss, as it has gyroid fragments that are exclusive to this island.
