Baldur's Gate 3's Goblin Camp in Act 1
The Baldur’s Gate 3 Goblin Camp is one of the most important story moments in Act 1 of the RPG game. Depending on your actions, you’ll determine if the camp attacks you or whether you can gain their trust and raise their morale to help you out in battle. There are multiple options available to you to defeat the Goblins in the camp, including sneaking, befriending, or attacking them, so we’ll break down all of the options you have to kill or spare the Goblins in the RPG game. You can also get some great Baldur’s Gate 3 equipment if you do decide to loot the camp.
How to sneak and befriend the Goblins
If you want to sneak up on the Goblins, you’ll have to be very careful about which enemies you attack, and in what order. Destroying the War Drum before it’s played will prevent the camp from attacking, but you’ll have to alert foes in order to get close enough to do so.
Certain situational skill checks will be key to your success in befriending the Goblins. Deception will let you get close to an enemy without them becoming hostile, while Persuasion lets you persuade other Goblins to trust you, which can be useful for getting them to move out of the way.
It’s also important to note that you can kill Goblins in small groups, or in specific areas of the camp where the rest don’t notice. You can also use ranged weapons and spells to achieve the same effect, as long as you’re careful to avoid alerting other Goblins.
How to fight the Goblins
If you decide to fight against the Goblins, you’ll have to corner and defeat Priestess True Soul Gut in the Shattered Sanctum, before making your way to her boss room and taking on Minthara and her Goblin lackeys, with Dror Ragzlin providing support from the top of the hill.
Killing Minthara and her Goblin lackeys without alerting the rest of the camp is the most difficult part of this fight, as the others will follow her until she’s out of sight, making it easy for the rest of her army to follow.
Fortunately, you can use the spiders in the spider’s den to your advantage. The den is just to the right of Ragzlin’s position, and if you kill the spiders, Ragzlin will notice and go to investigate – letting you take him out while he’s distracted.
After killing the leaders, you can decide whether to fight or flee the rest of the camp. You can poison the Booze Tub to kill a few Goblins, but otherwise, the rest of the camp will ignore you as long as you don’t aggro any more enemies.
Escaping the camp is as simple as fast traveling out, so don’t worry about getting into a fight you can’t handle. Just take caution not to aggro any more enemies while leaving, as you’ll have to fight your way out regardless of how you dealt with the Goblins.
