A lone wolf defeats Baldur’s Gate 3’s toughest boss

A lone wolf defeats Baldur’s Gate 3’s toughest boss in just two turns – and does so with just a bow, a bag of busted magic items, and a non-flashy class. It’s a perfect example of how skill and strategy can triumph over flashy abilities. The player’s accomplishment, which takes down a devil with 666 hit points, also brings joy to fans of the long-running role-playing game series by bringing to mind classic moments in the older games.

The video comes from YouTuber Thorusin and features a fighter character taking down a devil with an unimpressive 666 hit points. Fighters in D&D 5th edition are known for their lack of flashy abilities compared to their spellcasting counterparts, but late-game spellcasters have access to powerful spells like Meteor Swarm.

Fighters rely on their physical attacks, and that’s what Thorusin’s character uses – with a little help from several key magic items. The player begins the fight by firing a haste-imbued arrow at the devil, then follows it up with an arrow that applies a debuff on the target, thanks to the legendary bow Gontr Mael.

Next, the player uses the Amulet of Branding, which makes the target vulnerable to physical damage. They also use the legendary cloak The Cloak of Mists, which grants the player advantage on their next attack. With the help of an Arrow of Fiend slaying and the Killer’s Sweetheart ring, the player deals 122 damage in their second attack, bringing the boss down to just 80 hit points.

By the end of their first turn, the boss is left completely paralyzed and with only 80 hit points. The player then uses the Arrow of Many Targets to defeat the boss’s army, and the fight is over. It’s a simple but effective strategy that highlights the power of action surge, haste, and powerful magical arrows.

The video serves as a reminder of how powerful Baldur’s Gate 3 fighters can be, especially if you’re willing to put in the time to develop a unique and powerful build. It’s also a great example of why fans of the series love the game so much – the simple but engaging strategy used to defeat the devil is reminiscent of the many memorable moments in the older games.

The fight takes place in an Act 3 dungeon, so be aware of spoilers if you’re playing the game and want to avoid them. Otherwise, this video serves as a great reminder of why fans love the game and why it’s still worth playing today.
