Baldur's Gate 3 creator says launch success is "unprecedented"

Truly, I am feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety. On one hand, I am overjoyed at the incredible response to our launch. On the other, I am nervous that, despite our best efforts, some of you are having a bad time.

That’s the message from Larian’s founder and CEO Swen Vincke, following the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, which has seen concurrent players on Steam exceed 800,000 as the RPG game continues to climb the best-selling charts.

“I am hoping that no major bugs will hinder your experience,” Vincke says. “We have some of the best bug fixing tools in the business, and our team will be working around the clock to address any issues that arise.”

Despite the excitement and happiness felt among the team, Vincke says, “We are already focused on addressing the reported issues. We are ready to roll with this, but we need your help. If you spot a bug, please report it and don’t assume someone else already has.”

While Vincke admits that the early access success of Baldur’s Gate 3 exceeded expectations, he emphasises that the full release was “just the beginning.” He says, “We will eventually grow beyond 800,000 concurrent players, but we will grow slowly so that we can deliver a great experience to everyone."
