Finding ways to deal with Gremishka enemies in Baldur's Gate 3

Finding out how to deal with the tricky Gremishka enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t just going to help you complete side quests, but also give you the means to kill them with ease. The Gremishka creatures have a few unique characteristics that can make them particularly challenging. Thankfully, if you know how they work, there are ways to get around them.

Among the side quests in Baldur's Gate 3: Killing Gremishkas

Among the side quests we found in Baldur’s Gate 3 was one that tasked us with killing a group of Gremishkas. What we found out while doing so is that they can nullify or even counter magic. This makes them deadly to spellcasters, but there are ways to counter them. Killing Gremishka provides a brewing component for Wizardsbane Oil, a potent poison than can neutralise other spellcasters. Here’s everything you need to know about the Gremishka enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3 and how to brew Wizardsbane Oil.

Where to find Gremishkas

The biggest pack of Gremishkas can be found on the second floor of Rosynmorn Monastery. To get there, head to the top of the monastery, climb the vines, and break through the barricade to the east.

What are Gremishkas?

Gremishkas are large, bipedal creatures that are capable of countering or nullifying magic. They can be found all over the Sword Coast and can be a challenge to deal with, especially if you rely on spells.

How to brew Wizardsbane Oil

To brew Wizardsbane Oil, you need the following ingredients:

  • Essence of Gremishka Tail
  • Essence of Troll
  • Essence of Basilisk

When you have these three items, you can begin to brew Wizardsbane Oil. The item requires Essence of Gremishka Tail, which is obtained by killing Gremishkas. The suspension is up to you, and you can pick from the following:

  • Water
  • Oil
  • Alcohol

Wizardsbane Oil penalties

There are a few penalties that Wizardsbane Oil imposes on spellcasting abilities. The penalties are as follows:

  • Reduces the range of spells
  • Increases the casting time of spells
  • Chance to fail when casting spells

How to counter Gremishkas

The biggest challenge when dealing with Gremishkas is that your magic is often countered or nullified. The good news is that there are ways to counter this. For example, Wizardsbane Oil penalizes spellcasting abilities. So, if you were to throw Wizardsbane Oil on a Gremishka, it would begin to take penalties. Alternatively, you could use a spell that doesn’t rely on spells, such as call lightning or spark.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a world of magic, and you likely use it to navigate the many challenges. But it’s nice to know there are creatures out there that can counter your most powerful abilities.
