Pressing Left Alt on your keyboard or Right Analog stick on your controller activates “Show Item Labels”. As the name suggests, this makes items glow and displays their labels, so you can click on them. If an interactable object is nearby, it will glow, and any labels will display on screen.
If you’re unsure whether or not an object is interactable, containers will always indicate whether they have items inside through this feature. This can be particularly handy in shops and houses, where many objects can be interacted with.
Another option is using “Active Search”. This is only available to controllers, so mouse and keyboard users will need to rely on “Show Item Labels”. By holding down the Interact button, a ring expands from your character, and a menu appears if there are any nearby items to loot, or objects you can interact with.
And that’s all you need to know about highlighting interactive objects in Baldur’s Gate 3. With this many items to interact with, you’ll likely spend hours just in the first area alone, completing tasks and learning about the world around you.
