Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 is hiding its version number from screenshots, giving the RPG game’s Steam page an unsightly black bar across the top. While you can’t remove the number yourself, developer Larian says it might patch in a way to remove it in the future, but it’s not clear when that might be.
If you’ve been looking at screenshots of Baldur’s Gate 3 and wondering what that unsightly black bar is across the top, it’s the game’s version number. Turning off the UI with one button press, F10 by default, clears away party member portraits, spells, items, and the mini map (NPCs and item names won’t show unless you press F10 again). You can play BG3 without the UI and enjoy the stunning environments, or toggle it off temporarily for screenshots – but there’s no permanent option to hide the version number separately.
Larian says it put the number there for early access, but that it’s considered an “eyesore” now that the game is fully released. It says it might patch in a way to remove it in the future, but it’s not clear when that might be.
In the meantime, if you’re playing on Windows and using the default keybind for hiding the UI, the number will disappear. That’s good news, because it means you can hide the version number from screenshots by default.
If you’re on Steam, check your screenshot keybind (default: F12). Set a keybind and storage location in Steam’s settings so you can easily share high-resolution screenshots with your friends.
Check out our guide to setting up screenshots in Steam for more information. If you’re playing on another platform, take a look at the settings for your screenshot tool of choice to see if there’s a way to increase the screenshot size.
Get ready to show your friends just how good this new Baldur’s Gate really is.
