Baldur's Gate 3: Customize Your Character's Appearance
Baldur’s Gate 3 has introduced a truly unique character creation feature: you can now customize your character’s penis and breasts. The options aren’t exactly extensive, but it’s a wonderfully silly addition to a fantasy RPG game nonetheless.
In a gameplay preview livestream, the Larian Studios team talks about the new customization options for the upcoming game. While there are a few presets for each race-bodytype combination, there’s no way to change the size of the penis, areolas, or breasts.
“We opted for presets to avoid players creating unappealing characters,” the Larian team says. “There’s no balance in creating presets that allow you to make a character that looks like a smurf, or a gnome, or a hobbit.”
While some players express disappointment at the limited options, others take a more lighthearted approach, suggesting mods could provide the desired options. There’s even a humorous discussion about players’ penis customization preferences.
In general, the gameplay preview is met with excitement about the new features, which include a bald female Dragonborn, a character with no nipples, and a character with a great big penis. There’s also a player who wishes the penis customization was not part of the face options.
“There’s not a separate genitalia slider!” another player replies. “If you’re gonna go balls deep into customization, you should be able to customize your balls as well.”
There’s also a discussion about breast customization, with some players understanding why the options are limited from a practical point of view. “It’s nice to see there’s an option for different vaginas,” one player remarks, and another points out that there’s also an option for different butts.
The gameplay itself is also quite funny, with one player revealing they feel better about themselves after seeing their character’s “cake.” There’s also a comment about ignorance, followed by a pretty funny revelation.
“I am just so happy that I could make them purple,” another player says, referring to their hot-pink dragonborn character. “I didn’t know they had pink parts,” they add, which leads to a discussion about whether the pube options are grey because of their character’s white hair.
“I just love the dent in their head,” another player says, referring to their character’s horns. “It’s like the perfect place for a unicorn horn.” Another player shares their amusement with their hot-pink dragonborn character’s genitals, which are apparently “like a hot, pink egg.”
Ultimately, the joy of gaming comes from finding what brings you joy in the game world, regardless of whether it’s expected, welcome, or technically possible. It’s also a reminder that game developers are constantly striving for innovation, often in the face of market expectations and technical limitations.
While I’m sure there will be some who refuse to play the game because of the penis and breast customization, I think Baldur’s Gate 3 will be filled with vaginas of all shapes, sizes, and colors. And that’s a wonderful thing.
