Baldur's Gate 3 - Highly Praised RPG Game
The Metacritic score for Baldur's Gate 3 is nothing short of spectacular, with many reviewers declaring the RPG game one of the best in the series and one of the best of 2023 overall. However, as is often the case with such highly anticipated games, player opinions are a little more mixed, with some fans taking to Reddit to share their thoughts on the game, along with some rather heated hot takes.
One fan suggests speeding up non-player characters in combat, while another expresses frustration with picking party members. Another fan argues that Halsin should have remained an NPC, suggesting a different character as a companion.
Others feel the character creator is underwhelming, with a lack of customization options, which developer Beamdog is already looking to address. There's also some humorously expressed disappointment in the limited opportunities for romance as a bard.
However, the overall tone of the thread, and of the wider online reaction to the game, seems to be one of overwhelming positivity, with many fans expressing their appreciation for the game's humor, the freedom afforded by the open-world setting, and the sense that Beamdog has found the right middle ground between classic Baldur's Gate and the divisive Siege of Dragonspear expansion.
The only thing that really seems to divide fans is the question of whether or not silent protagonists should be voiced, with a plea for the ability to filter quest markers and a desire for easier party movement on the map also making an appearance.
