Baldur's Gate 3 patch notes

The first major Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes have arrived, as over 1,000 bug fixes have been included in the update, addressing a number of quests and companion issues in the D&D game. However, it looks like the shorter races won’t be able to engage in kissing with their partners, as a seemingly small fix has accidentally taken them out of the game.

Almost all of the Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes mention fixes for the mostly blocked-off Upper City, which should now be accessible to players regardless of whether they’ve completed the quest to open it up. However, the dev team at Larian Studios has shared a rather cute GIF, showing off one of the character models squatting down to kiss a shorter partner.

“We hear you and we agree,” Larian says, “this is unacceptable, and will be fixed.” The studio says it aims to ensure companions behave correctly, and quests play out as intended.

The mention of the Upper City in the patch notes raises questions about whether it will be fully open to explore, as the notes also say fixes have been made for the buggiest third act and character AI issues. Larian also says some performance improvements are expected, as the city’s performance has been problematic.

In addition to the first major update, there are more updates and improvements to look forward to, and fans have also been digging through the game’s cut content through datamining, with plenty of hopes for its return.

The article concludes with a plea to Larian Studios: “Please, for the love of Eilistraee, put a Moon elf bard in Baldur’s Gate 3.”
