Baldur's Gate 3 to Receive FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.2 Support
Baldur's Gate 3 is going to benefit from FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.2 support, as Larian Studios confirms the RPG will be getting the AMD, Intel, and older Nvidia graphics card upgrade closer to the game's launch date on PlayStation 5. FSR 2.2 is an improvement over FSR 1.0, and should offer better clarity, motion handling, and performance gains.
Speaking to PC Gamer, Larian Studios' Greg Nott says, "We're working with AMD and Nvidia to get FSR 2.2 support into BG3 closer to September 6. This will be a great improvement to the game's clarity, motion handling, and performance gains."
Baldur's Gate 3 already offers up FSR 1.0 and DLSS upscaling technologies, but the former is only available to AMD Radeon and Nvidia graphics card owners, while the latter is restricted to Nvidia 20/30/40-series cards. FSR 2.2 will offer a more inclusive experience, as it'll work on various graphics cards and benefits from hardware acceleration on newer RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 graphics cards.
The upgrade may also enhance performance on the Steam Deck handheld gaming device, which has received the official Steam Deck Verified stamp of approval (check out our Steam Deck review). Bringing FSR 2.2 support to the RPG may further optimize its performance on Valve's handheld, but we'll have to wait and see.
