Warden, the Baldur’s Gate 3 protagonist, and the Level-Up Bug
If you’re a wizard in the BioWare RPG game, you might encounter a level-up bug that prevents you from advancing past fifth level spells. Reddit user Pteralyn reports hitting this bug in the Larian Studios game. Although you're not supposed to learn sixth-tier magic until level six, Pteralyn already knows all of them, even though they're out of level 5 spells. It's an unusual bug, but it seems to have broken the game for Pteralyn.
If you’ve played as a wizard in the D&D game, you might have triggered the bug yourself. If not, it's advised to avoid becoming a wizard to be on the safe side. Otherwise, you might end up stuck in level-up limbo like Pteralyn.
How to Get Around the Bug
Luckily, there are a few ways to bypass the bug. You can use mods or respec into another class. However, it's not recommended to rely on these workarounds too much. While spell scrolls offer a shortcut to powerful magic, they shouldn't be overused.
Pteralyn has reported the bug to Larian Studios, and we'll have to wait and see if the developers manage to fix it. In the meantime, the developers are actively working on other bug fixes through the Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfixes.
