Looking for ways to break out of prison and avoid jail time in Baldur’s Gate 3? Stealing, or trespassing where you’re not supposed to, is a quick way to end up behind bars. Guards will catch you in the act and manhandle you until you’re locked up. Your character will be stripped of their weapons and left to rot in a cell until the authorities come to take them away.

Being caught red-handed is only one way to end up in jail. You can also be hauled in for questioning, or arrested for a crime you didn’t commit. Regardless of the scenario, you’ll need to break out of prison in order to continue your adventures in the open-world game. However, you can talk your way out by convincing the guard of your innocence, or use persuasion, deception, or intimidation skills. Alternatively, you can bribe them with money, but make sure you have the required amount.

How to break out of prison in Baldur’s Gate 3

There are plenty of ways to break out of prison in Baldur’s Gate 3. Some locations require you to talk to guards, while others simply require sneaking or using parkour. Here are all the methods to escape in the D&D game.

Druid Grove prison break

If you find yourself locked up in Druid Grove, your best bet is to lockpick the cell door, or use parkour to jump over cliffs with explosive plants. The latter method is dangerous, so we recommend unlocking the door first.

Misty Step or using an Arrow of Teleportation can help you escape through jail bars in some locations, but this option doesn’t always work. For example, you can’t use it in Moonrise Towers, where you can rescue imprisoned characters. Instead, you’ll have to secretly kill guards and use control levers for the jail cells.

Finally, it’s also important to note that the “Fugitive” status effect can land on you after escaping. This lasts for nine turns, so you’ll need to wait until it wears off before continuing. Alternatively, you could use crouching and sneaking to leave the area.
