Camping in Baldur’s Gate 3
Want to know how to camp in Baldur’s Gate 3? Resting in the iconic RPG game is just as important as looting, fighting, and questing. While camping supplies are required for long rests, you can camp anywhere – except during a fight – and just rest for a short period. So, if you’re deep in enemy territory and need to heal up before continuing your journey, or need to restock before a big battle, this guide will help you do it.
Camping is an essential activity in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can rest anywhere to regain health and spell slots, but to fully replenish your resources, you’ll need camping supplies. These can be found in boxes, crates, and by looting corpses, but you can also buy them from vendors if you’re running low. Here’s everything you need to know about camping in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to camp in Baldur’s Gate 3
Before you can camp in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need camping supplies. These don’t do anything on their own, but they’re essential for long rests, described below. You can find camping supplies in boxes, crates, and by looting corpses, as shown in the image below.
You can also pick up apples and sausages, which contribute to camping supplies. While short rests don’t require any supplies, long rests do, so it’s important to keep an eye out for any camping supplies you can find, as well as food.
Long rests require at least 40 camping supplies, but short rests cost nothing. You can buy camping supplies and food from vendors if you can’t find enough, but you don’t need to stop to buy supplies for short rests.
To set up camp, click the fire icon to the right of your character bar to select either long or short rests. Choose the area you want to camp at, and the game will prompt you to rest. Long rests replenish HP, spell slots, and Illithid Wisdom dialogue choices. It also ends your day, progressing the story and potentially opening up new dialogue options. Partial rests are possible with fewer than 40 camping supplies, but they don’t restore all of your HP, spell slots, and so on. You can change your party at camp without extra cost, so you can change tactics or heal different characters.
That’s everything you need to know about camping in Baldur’s Gate 3. Short rests restore HP, but not Illithid Wisdom, so there’s no need to camp for one if you don’t have to. Likewise, you can’t camp during a fight, so make sure you’re not under attack before setting up camp. If you’re looking for a change of pace, why not try out some of the best MMORPGs instead?
