How to find and talk to Mind Flayer Omeluum
After you reach the Underdark in the early stages of the campaign, you can find Omeluum and his Myconid Colony in the Southwest of this subterranean region. He wants to help feed his colony, but his mushrooms need more light. He wants you to collect two Sussur Bloom flowers, which grow near the Arcane Tower.
Omeluum wants you to collect the mushrooms for him. The quest sequence here is fairly long, with a number of skill checks to reveal more about your tadpole. First, reach the base of the tower by carefully jumping from pillar to pillar. You can see the elevator from here, but it’s inactive.
Collect the nearby Sussur Bloom, then return to Omeluum to obtain a second one. Combine the two flowers to make a full bloom. Now, activate the engine to shut down the Arcane Cannons and access the elevator on the second floor.
In the Underdark, you need to climb the Arcane Tower to reach the mushrooms. The top floor is guarded by a level 5 clockwork butler boss and his automaton friends. It’s a big fight, but you can use Eldritch Blast or Invisibility to get the jump on them.
On the fifth floor, read a book titled “The Roads to Darkness” to quote lines when talking to Bernard the robot butler.
How to obtain the Psionic Ring
Once you return to Omeluum, he gives you the quest “The Inner Circle” to explore the Arcane Tower. Reach the top floor to discover a large mushroom colony. He wants you to find a Psionic Ring in a chest on the fifth floor. You can either pay him or pass a skill check to obtain the loot.
This quest is fairly short compared to a lot of others in the RPG game. However, the Arcane Tower is a standout set piece with great story content. Our Baldur’s Gate 3 review highlights how developer Interplay Entertainment delivered a top-quality experience.
