The Barbie Movie and the New Ken Doll
The Barbie Movie keeps raking in the dough, with the Mattel toy icon’s latest movie now officially a billion dollar behemoth. With that, and the runaway success of Barbie’s latest fashion, comes a new Ken doll, inspired by Ryan Gosling’s outfit in the film, and it’s now available for pre-order.
Ahead of Barbie’s expected box office crown in 2023, the iconic doll and her friends are enjoying a surge in popularity, both in terms of dolls and clothing. The faux fur Ken doll wears the same coat and black fringe vest as Gosling’s character, a standout look from the movie.
Priced at $75 (£63), the Ken doll is already available to pre-order now via Mattel and Amazon, but don’t plan on getting it any time soon. The urgency here is due to Barbie Movie 2’s popularity, which means the doll is likely to sell out fast.
Unlike a previous Barbie doll, this Ken isn’t made-to-order, so the fact it’s available for pre-order now is even more of an indication of how eager fans are to get their hands on the unique character’s outfit.
The faux fur Ken doll is part of a range of merchandise tied to the Barbie movie, which includes a line of clothing sporting the catchphrase “I Am Kenough,” a riff on Ken’s style and his signature phrase.
