Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct reveals a lot of interesting things about Super Mario Bros. Wars

The Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct reveals a lot of interesting things about Super Mario Bros. Wars, including a variety of interesting characters and other items. But perhaps the most notable reveal is elephant versions of many of the series’ characters, including Mario and Peach, but Yoshi does not get the same treatment. Elephant Mario jumps on Yoshi’s back, crushing him under his weight.

Not everyone is happy about this turn of events, as Yoshi has a dedicated fanbase who express concern for his well-being. Some wonder if Yoshi will unionize, while others suggest Mario’s Final Smash in the next Smash Bros. game should involve crushing spines.

This is, of course, not the first time Yoshi has suffered in a Mario game, as he has sacrificed Yoshi for jumps in the past. Yoshi’s disappointed expression also suggests exhaustion from being Mario’s steed, although some seem to think he’s just tired from his workout and should get back to carrying Mario.

Others, however, see this as a display of Yoshi’s superhuman strength, as he is able to carry Mario and other characters despite his small stature. I’m sure most would agree, however, that if Yoshi is strong enough to carry Mario, he’s strong enough to not be crushed by him.

Meanwhile, Bowser is probably pretty happy he doesn’t have to face the same fate.

I refuse to accept that this isn’t Yoshi and Bowser in a literal elephant’s graveyard. pic.twitter.com/5QKj5nhQk2

I’m here for this Yoshi fan theory that he uses his weight to create the ground pound in Smash Bros. pic.twitter.com/7Fhs0GkfH7

Yoshi has been in Smash Bros. before, and he was playable in Mario Tennis Aces – so it’s possible he may still show up in Super Mario Bros. Wars. For now, however, it looks like he may have suffered a fate worse than death.

The Smash Bros. character won’t be the only familiar face to appear in the game, as the game’s website also confirms that Shellcreepers and Rabbits will be making an appearance.
