Call of Duty lobbies are infested with hackers, and the problem is particularly prevalent in Black Ops 2. In the latest Call of Duty game, it takes under three minutes to obtain a mod menu through the theatre in Black Ops 2, leading to an abundance of hackers in the game. This issue has plagued old Call of Duty games for quite some time, and it doesn’t look like it will be resolved any time soon.

In a lengthy thread, an individual shared their personal experience of encountering a hacker who maxed out their profile in World at War, hindering their progress in multiplayer. Even the safe haven of Zombies isn’t immune to hackers, as they can infiltrate there as well.

While it’s no surprise that the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty is affected by hackers, it’s still important to be aware of the prevalence of them in your gaming experiences. It’s also important to consider that older Call of Duty games are experiencing a resurgence on the Xbox 360 due to the release of Call of Duty: Warzone, and that may be why the servers are especially affected now.

The user also mentions that they encountered other hackers in various other games, suggesting that the Xbox 360 Call of Duty lobbies are generally infested with hackers. Another player on Series X console shared a similar experience, where their friend had a hacker-free experience in Modern Warfare 2, whereas they encountered consistent hackers in Black Ops 2.

You can check out the full thread here. It’s also worth checking out the Black Ops 2 subreddit, which has a similar complaint.

Unfortunately, the problem persists due to the simplicity of the mod menu exploit. After launching the game, players only need to download a short theatre clip, watch it until it freezes, and then end the film. This grants hackers access to features such as god mode, infinite ammo, noclip, clones, permanent UAV, teleporting, team swapping, wallhacks, unlimited killstreaks, and double speed.

The ease of this method means that no third-party apps or complex downloads are necessary, and that it’s alarmingly simple for anyone to become a hacker in Black Ops 2. Considering that this problem has persisted for over five years, it’s unlikely to be resolved.

If you’re looking to revisit a classic Call of Duty game, it may be wise to consider one of the other titles instead of Black Ops 2.
