Frustrated players call for action against cheaters

The introduction of new anti-cheat measures for Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 has left players demanding that developers take action against hackers, after the measure failed to curb cheating in the popular Call of Duty games. Frustrations among players show the impact cheats have on the enjoyment of the games – and the ongoing battle between players and hackers in online gaming more broadly – with many simply calling for a more aggressive approach.

The demand for stricter actions against cheaters reflects the ongoing battle between developers and hackers in online gaming. While the introduction of anti-cheat measures was seen as a step in the right direction, many players feel it hasn’t gone far enough. The issue has become a persistent problem for the community, and has even led some players to suggest implementing hardware bans to deter cheaters from returning.

“Listen to us,” one player says in a recent video. “Cheating has been a problem for years, and the only thing you’ve done is ban a few accounts. It’s not working. It’s still there. I’ve been playing FPS games since the ’90s, and this is the worst it’s ever been. Just ban them. Don’t even give them a second chance. Just ban them.”

“We want to play the game,” another player says. “Give us a fair chance. I don’t want to see my crosshairs on a wall three-and-a-half seconds before I shoot it. I don’t want to see the enemy player with one health left and a headshot that I can’t get. Just give us a fair shot. That’s all we want.”

There are plenty of other similar comments throughout the video. You can see it for yourself below:

The ongoing presence of cheats and hacks in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 undermines the integrity of the game and creates an unfair playing field for other players. The frustration also stems from the perception that not enough is being done to address the problem.

“Hey, I’m just a simple gamer,” another player says. “I just want to play the game and not have hackers ruin it for me. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s too much.”

There’s no better way to express the frustration than that. There are a lot of very frustrated players out there, and it’s not hard to see why.

Game Labs has previously stated that it is “constantly working on improving our anti-cheat solution.” The developer has also encouraged players to report any suspected cheats using the in-game report function.
