Increase Your Destiny 2 Vanguard Rank and Earn Valuable Rewards
Are you wondering how to increase your Destiny 2 Vanguard rank? After completing the early story missions, you'll gain access to Vanguard activities. These activities are divided into two playlists: Vanguard Ops and Nightfall. To boost your reputation with Zavala, focus on playing strikes and Nightfalls.
The Season of the Lost introduced a rewarding system for the Vanguard, offering Masterwork materials, unique cosmetics, and even Exotic Engrams. By grinding out strikes and Nightfalls, you can climb the ranks and earn these valuable rewards. Let's take a closer look at the Destiny 2 Vanguard ranking system.
How to Increase Your Vanguard Rank
To increase your Vanguard Rank with Zavala, participate in strikes and Nightfalls. Vanguard activities are split into two playlists: Vanguard Ops and Nightfall.
Repeatedly completing strikes, Battlegrounds, and Nightfalls will build up an Activity Streak, which accelerates your ranking progress. The Vanguard ranking system consists of multiple ranks, each with its own requirements.
How to Increase Vanguard Rank Scores
Completing strikes, Battlegrounds, and Nightfalls will increase your Vanguard Rank, with higher scores granting more reputation. Nightfalls have a higher score multiplier, so if you're looking to farm reputation, prioritize Legend or Master Nightfalls.
Vanguard Ops and Nightfalls employ a scoring system that awards bonus points based on your fireteam's performance. Achieving a specific score threshold will multiply your Vanguard Rank earnings. To achieve high scores, challenge yourself with higher-difficulty Nightfalls, preferably Grandmaster ones.
The length and enemy density of a Nightfall also impact your potential high score. Destiny 2 provides incentives to push yourself. A high score threshold further multiplies your Vanguard Rank earnings. For example, earning a 30,000 score in a Grandmaster Nightfall can potentially increase your Vanguard Rank by 1,500%.
How to Increase Vanguard Rank Streaks
Playing five strikes, Battlegrounds, and/or Nightfalls consecutively will maximize your Activity Streak bonus. Exiting Destiny 2 won't reset your Activity Streak, but starting a new activity will.
Double Vanguard Rank Weeks
You can increase your Vanguard Rank with Zavala multiple times per season. Destiny 2's seasons typically last four weeks, and there are double Vanguard Rank weeks throughout the season. During these weeks, reputation points are doubled. Make sure to check the active modifiers in the Vanguard Ops or Nightfall playlists to see if double Vanguard reputation is active.
Destiny 2 Vanguard Rank Rewards
As you increase your Vanguard Rank with Zavala, you'll unlock rewards such as Masterwork materials and the Last Rite Scout Rifle. Upon reaching the maximum Vanguard Rank of 10,000, you can claim an Ascendant Shard from Zavala to reset your Vanguard Rank.
This allows you to grind your way back up to 10,000 points, giving you multiple chances to earn the Last Rite Scout Rifle and other rewards.
That's everything you need to know to start ranking up with Zavala. Once you've reached the maximum rank, you can either spend your time farming for Ascendant Shards or begin the grind to rank up with the other two members of the Destiny 2 Vanguard.
