The upcoming AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT

The upcoming AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT is poised to be one of the best graphics cards around, and a leaked Time Spy score indicates the graphics chip could rival the Radeon RX 6800. While the result should be taken with a grain of salt, it does align with expectations based on specifications and past generation improvements.

The leaked Time Spy score comes courtesy of HXL, and according to the source, the RX 7700 XT’s graphics score is around 17,000 points. The result puts the forthcoming RDNA 3 graphics card at around 17,000 points, about 3.2% faster than the RX 6800.

That said, the score is also close to the GeForce RTX 4070, which only had a 5% higher score. Naturally, we’ll have to wait for additional benchmarks to see how the graphics card actually performs, and you should take the leak with a grain of salt.

Nevertheless, the result is also interesting because it puts the RX 7700 XT’s performance in context. For example, AMD’s internal benchmarks showed the RX 7700 XT outperforming the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB by up to 31% at native 1440p resolution.

This means the upcoming graphics card is a significant step up from the RTX 4060 Ti, which isn’t necessarily surprising given the jump in specs. It’s also worth noting that the RX 7700 XT’s performance compared to the RX 5700 XT is also briefly mentioned.

The article also advises staying on the cutting edge, especially if you’re looking to take advantage of the best gaming monitor resolution. In the meantime, the Radeon RX 7700 XT launches on September 6 alongside the RX 7800 XT, and you can check out our preview for more details.
