Dungeons & Dragons Inspiration

Dungeons & Dragons Inspiration is a really cool mechanic that you’re probably using well, but you could probably use a few more ways to reward your players for good behavior and roleplaying. Inspiration is a treat for good behavior and a way to keep the cycle going. If your players are doing what you wish, reward them for it, and they’ll keep doing it.

Dungeons & Dragons Inspiration can be used to boost your rolls, but you should be using it more often to reward good behavior and roleplaying. You can also use it to give to other players who are also doing well.

Dungeons & Dragons Inspiration moments

Unusual actions during combat or creative descriptions of attacks should always be rewarded with Inspiration. Players who plan attacks based on gathered information or who uncover significant parts of the plot should also be rewarded.

When players come up with unexpected solutions that work, give them Inspiration. If the solution is too obvious, then you should point it out, but if it seems like a good solution to the players, then it should work.

Players who make choices that increase the chances of their own death or complicate the situation should also be rewarded with Inspiration. Likewise, if there is a moment where the players come up with a strategy that seems like it will work, even if it’s not what you had in mind, then you should reward them with Inspiration.

When to give Dungeons & Dragons Inspiration
