The Dying Light developer says that its new owner, Tencent, will not change anything about its games, following an announcement about the deal. Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka describes Tencent as like-minded friends and strong partners, and says the deal will allow the Open-world ARPG developer to carry out its vision for its games, while ensuring the success of its upcoming title.

“Tencent is like-minded friends and strong partners who share the same vision and passion,” Marchewka says. “They will help us execute our vision and ensure the success of our upcoming open-world ARPG.

“We will retain full ownership of our IPs and will maintain creative freedom.”

Tencent is a massive player in the gaming industry, with investments in companies like Riot Games, Epic, and Ubisoft. While it has a hands-off approach with its investments, this deal gives Techland fans nothing to worry about – no sudden changes in direction.

However, Tencent has not been having an easy time recently. The company has seen its fortunes dwindle due to a number of factors, including China’s crackdown on the tech industry, and the economic slowdown caused by the pandemic. However, its share price has been recovering, indicating that the company is ready to get back in the game.

We have reached out to Techland for further details about the deal with Tencent, and will update this story with further information as it comes in.
