An Elden Ring challenge run ends in tragedy

Elden Ring challenge run that demanded players farm 10 million runes over days is over, and the player behind it all says their effort was for naught. In what might be one of the most Elden Ring comedy stories we’ve ever seen, one player’s terrible idea for an Elden Ring challenge run is met with an even worse fate in the RPG game.

Daredevil Elden Ring players are a rare breed. As I’ve said before, the best challenge runs are the ones that players concoct out of the blue, without any formal announcement from developers or YouTubers.

This particular player goes by the handle DementedEnjoyer and has spent days farming 10 million runes “for no specific reason.” They spent at least two days grinding up to 10 million runes before starting the challenge, despite advice from the Elden Ring subreddit that they should use the runes on glass shards or embark on a bow-only build.

“I’m going to beat the game without spending or losing my 10 million runes,” DementedEnjoyer says, vowing to carry on their terrible idea despite the odds.

Well, it didn’t work out.

DementedEnjoyer began an Elden Ring corpse run after making their way through the game’s second zone. Tragedy struck when they fell off a platform and lost the 10 million runes forever.

“I’m going to be honest, I knew this was going to happen,” DementedEnjoyer says after the run comes to an end. “This is what I expected.”

It’s a terribly sad story, but also one that comes with a lighthearted spin. DementedEnjoyer remains positive and acknowledges that their terrible idea was doomed to fail.

“It’s not that bad,” they say after the run ends. “I’m still laughing.”

Elden Ring has a long history of terrible player ideas and hero stories, and DementedEnjoyer has just become a new entry among its pantheon of unhinged player heroes.

If you’ve ever encouraged someone’s terrible idea for the sake of amusement, then this story is for you.
