14 ways to level up faster in Fallout 4

Need to level up fast in Fallout 4? If you’re in the middle of a quest and need to level up to progress, or you’re simply running out of things to do in the Open-world game, you might be looking for ways to get more experience points. Fallout 4 progression can be grind-oriented, and it can take a while to level up. That said, there’s nothing more satisfying than watching your character grow.

The RPG game can be grindy, especially if you’re just gunning for level ups. You can make your progress faster with the Fallout 4 Idiot Savant Perk, or if you’re a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, but there are plenty of methods for fast early leveling, like doing numerous side quests. Here are 14 ways to level up faster in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 fast leveling tips

Here are some ways to level up faster in Fallout 4:

Idiot Savant

The Idiot Savant Perk offers three and five times experience for actions performed, making it essential for fast early leveling. You can get this perk after you rebuild Prydwen and reach level 12. It’s also worth noting that you can only get this perk once, so make sure it’s something you actually need.

You can maximize the bonus you get by doing the following: Quick Save before turning in a quest and Quick Load if you don’t get the bonus. If you don’t get the bonus on your first try, you can reload the game and try again.

Doing numerous side quests is a great way to level up quickly. You can also join the Brotherhood of Steel and level up the fastest out of all the factions in the game.

Part of leveling up with the Brotherhood of Steel is completing quests from Scribe Haylen and Knight Rhys. Rhys gives a good deal of XP for quests like The Lost Motorcycle and Scribe Haylen offers even more XP for quests like Maintaining a Healthy Fear and Acoustic Treatment. You should also consider increasing your Intelligence stat as that will help you level faster as well.

Increasing your Intelligence stat offers more XP for everything you do, so investing in Intelligence ranks is recommended. You can also use Mentats, a drug in the game, before turning in quests or completing objectives. This temporarily increases your Intelligence. Finally, wear equipment that adds bonuses to Intelligence to boost your leveling speed.

In addition to the methods above, you can also find bobbleheads, which permanently increase Intelligence. Completing the Learning Curve quest in the Brotherhood of Steel multiple times can give you extra XP.

You can also build resource-intensive items and place statues in your settlements to yield more XP. Modify weapons and armor or craft new ones to get even more experience points. Finally, hacking and lockpicking offer XP opportunities. Consider investing in the Hacker and Locksmith perks to unlock harder locks and terminals for more XP.

Lastly, if you’re in combat with enemies, even if they’re higher level than you or you’re low on ammo, you can get XP for every kill. By the same token, maxing out the affinity with your companions, like Piper, can provide perks that give you double XP for discovering new locations or successful speech checks. Finally, sleeping beside a romantic partner or spending time in a comfortable bed grants perks that increase experience gain.
