Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 16 are both great games, but which one is better? We’re here to help you make that tough decision. Don’t worry, you don’t have to choose – you can play both. Both games offer different takes on the series’ classic fantasy genre, and both are set in very different universes. Both games feature mature storytelling, cinematic flair, and polished combat.

Both Final Fantasy 15 and 16 introduce new characters, and both take place in different universes, so you can play them independently if you wish. Both games feature real-time action combat, but FF16 has a more cinematic storytelling approach and polished combat, while FF15 focuses more on traditional RPG mechanics and has a vast open world with many interesting places to visit and activities to engage in.

FF16 characters

The main protagonist of FF16 is Clive, along with his wolf companion Torgal. Both characters are members of the Ezel Church and fight against the Viltalyan Empire. Other characters that make up Clive’s party are the likes of Salim, a traveling merchant, and Alfea, a woman with amnesia.

While FF15 featured a more traditional party consisting of multiple characters, FF16 includes a dog companion in the party. We’re not sure why it’s a dog and not a wolf, but it’s the first time a dog/wolf has been in the party since FInal Fantasy 13, so we’ll give it that.

FF15 party members

Final Fantasy 15 allows players to switch between party members, each with different combat abilities and weapon choices. You can play as the Dragoon Luca, the Mage Aranea, the Ranger Danuna, or the Dark Knight Pryna, to name a few.

FF16 combat

In battle, Final Fantasy 16 players control Clive and can give orders to Torgal. Torgal attacks enemies, heals the player when needed, and more. While the combat in FF15 is fun, it is nowhere near as cinematic as FF16.

Final Fantasy 15 offers more traditional RPG mechanics that are still present in FF16, such as crafting, side quests, cooking, fishing, and Chocobo Races.

Final Fantasy 15 vs. Final Fantasy 16

So, which one is better? Well, it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a new take on the franchise with a mature story, polished combat, and a cinematic storytelling approach, then Final Fantasy 16 is the one for you. However, if you’re looking for a more traditional RPG experience with a vast open world and diverse activities, then Final Fantasy 15 is for you.

Final Fantasy 15 took ten years to make, while FF16 took a few years, so it’s no wonder that the former has a more classic RPG feel.
