How to Beat Bahamut in Final Fantasy 16

The Final Fantasy 16 boss battle against Bahamut is long, difficult, and punishing. Players will face a formidable opponent who constantly flies around the arena, making it challenging to land consistent damage. Avoiding Bahamut's relentless attacks is vital, as getting knocked around will deplete the player's essence, MP, and health.

The best strategy for the Bahamut fight in Final Fantasy 16 involves building a strong Ifrit character. Familiarity with Ifrit's abilities is crucial for success. This guide breaks down Bahamut's phases, lists his moves, and provides a step-by-step approach to defeating him.

Phase 1: Bahamut's Moves

Bahamut utilizes several attacks during the battle with Ifrit, including:

  • Spinning Divebomb: Bahamut charges up his divebomb attack, indicated by glowing wings. Ifrit can capitalize on this opportunity to deal damage.
  • Wingblades: Bahamut activates Quick Demise, attacking with Wingblades. Consuming items and utilizing Final Fantasy 16 Lich status effects can be helpful.
  • Aura Blast: Bahamut charges up and fires a ball of energy. Ifrit can deflect the Aura Blast shockwaves using Demi Shockwave ability. Equipping items to protect against specific elements is advisable.
  • Quintessence: Bahamut has two phases for this move. The first phase involves a steady beam that Ifrit must jump over to avoid explosion damage. The second phase focuses on using Quintessence as an attack against Ifrit.
  • Flare Breath: Bahamut uses this attack to charge up his ability gauge.

Bahamut's attack sequence may vary, but generally follows a set pattern. By using Wildfire consistently and timing abilities properly, players can simplify the fight.

Phase 2: Facing New Challenges

In the second phase, Bahamut gains control of the Phoenix Crystal and shifts attention to a new ally, making the battle more challenging. Instead of directly fighting Bahamut, players must focus on avoiding fights as much as possible while building up enough damage to counteract his frequent attacks.

The attacks in this phase include Flare Breath, Homing Orbs, Flatscreen, Megaflare, Wingblades, and Orb Turret. Players should use Fireball to damage Bahamut and Volley to destroy the Homing Orbs. Destroying the Orb Turrets is crucial to prevent them from activating the devastating Orb Bomb ultimate attack.

Phase 3: Ifrit's Return

In the third phase, players return to controlling Ifrit and are reunited with Joshua. Bahamut will unleash devastating attacks during this section, requiring players to run, take cover, and avoid damage. This phase provides opportunities to charge up abilities and deal damage with normal attacks.

Most of Bahamut's attacks in this section cause damage over time and inflict status effects. Players should be cautious and consume items that nullify these ailments. Abilities like Spitflare and Brimstone are particularly effective in this phase.

Phase 3 is extended and demands more time due to Bahamut's stronger attacks. Players must remain vigilant and adapt their strategies accordingly.
