A rare Final Fantasy VII poster spotted in a 1997 guidebook is turning heads among the RPG game’s fans, who are sharing their memories of the game and offering suggestions on how to preserve it. The vintage item, which was created to promote the 1997 game Final Fantasy VII, has been described as “dope” by an enthusiastic fan and has prompted discussion about the beloved character Yuffie, who does not appear on the poster.

“Opinion: This vintage poster brings back nostalgia and captures the essence of the game,” reads a caption on the image, shared by Twitter account Final Fantasy VII News on March 29.

“This is amazing,” one user responds, joking, “I can’t believe [Yuffie] didn’t get invited to the party.” Others express disappointment that the character, who first appeared in 1997’s Final Fantasy VII and then returned in 2001’s follow-up, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, does not appear on the poster.

“You’re really just gonna leave Yuffie out the party?” a second user replies. “She had a bigger role than Sephiroth,” another fan adds. Old posters featuring iconic characters are popular among collectors, and even vintage Godzilla posters inspire nostalgia and appeal.

Other fans, who do not appear to be Final Fantasy VII collectors, describe the poster as “cool” and mention how it evokes fond memories. “I used to have that poster on my childhood room door,” one user writes. “I used to have that poster on my bedroom door too,” another replies.

“I used to have that poster on my bedroom door,” a third fan writes. “I really liked Yuffie when I was young,” another admits. “I would be happier if I owned it,” one user writes.

“This is so neat,” one fan writes, while another replies, “How many of you actually have this poster?” A non-collector replies, “If you like it, why not just buy a replica on Etsy?”

Other users, however, criticise the poster for its design. “The Sephiroth is really disappointing,” one user writes. “It’s a beautiful poster, but not in a good way,” another adds.
