Travis Scott's Fortnite Absence

Travis Scott’s Fortnite absence remains a major point of contention among the battle royale game‘s players, with Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney addressing the Astroworld rapper‘s history with the game in a recent interview. While Epic and Scott haven’t ruled out a Fortnite concert, the Futurama crossover proves that the studio isn’t afraid to go the skin route instead.

It’s been over five years since Travis Scott held a concert in Fortnite. The Astroworld rapper released an Icon Series skin to commemorate the event, but he never returned for another performance, leading to speculation that he’d been blacklisted by the game due to the tragic events that unfolded at the Astroworld concert in 2021.

Scott was eventually cleared of all criminal responsibility in the tragedy, prompting fans to call for his return to Fortnite in the hopes that he’d release a new skin in celebration of his new album. Here’s how that played out:

While Epic Games and Scott didn’t respond to the call for a Fortnite concert, Scott did get a Fortnite skin for the Futurama crossover, meaning there’s still potential for him to show up in the battle royale game in the future.

Meanwhile, fans are still trying to figure out why Epic didn’t want to do a Fortnite concert with Scott, as we recently learned that the studio is planning to bring back the popular concert mode. Regardless, Fortnite players will be able to enjoy the Futurama crossover, which includes Futurama-themed Fortnite skins, as well as references to the iconic show.

The crossover includes Fry’s melee weapon, which is a replica of the “Stinky Mace” from the episode “Clawwpachk,” as well as a new powerful weapon called “Bender’s Shiny Metal Ray Gun.” The ray gun is guarded by Bender Rodriguez, and unless you’re able to kill him, you won’t be able to acquire the item.

While Sweeney’s comments may be frustrating to some Fortnite players, the Epic Games CEO is right that there are plenty of other things to enjoy in the game right now. Not only is the Futurama crossover going strong but the Fortnite Season 14 release date is right around the corner.
