A Sonic the Hedgehog Fan Recreates a Level from the 2006 Game in Fortnite
A Sonic the Hedgehog fan creates and shares a level from the 2006 Sonic game in Fortnite, impressing developer Epic Games. A Fortnite player and game dev, @SmmOan shares the impressive recreation on Twitter, and it looks set to become available for players to play in Fortnite’s Battle Royale.
The level, titled Crisis City, is from Sonic ‘06, the notoriously poor 2006 entry in the revered side-scrolling platforming series. It appears to be a faithful recreation, right down to the way the level itself is designed and the way Sonic moves.
“This level is amazing,” @SmmOan says, “I can’t believe the level of detail in the aesthetic and gameplay.” I absolutely agree. @SmmOan’s attention to detail in the aesthetics, right down to the way the skybox looks and the little animations as you climb up the rings, is nothing short of commendable.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen accurate level recreations in Fortnite either. Resident Evil 2 Remake fans have recreated the police station from the upcoming horror game, and just earlier this year, a fan developer created a level based on one from Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach.
Fan developers are always showing off incredible speed and skill, and it’s always great to see that recognized by the game’s creators. It looks like Crisis City will be available to play in Fortnite soon, so you’ll be able to play it with any Fortnite skin, and it’s set to be playable in solo, but not multiplayer yet.
