Intel Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K Performance Testing
The upcoming Intel Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K have been benchmarked, with the results showing that the performance improvements may not be as bad as anticipated. The tests were conducted by XFastest, so keep in mind that the results may not be accurate.
The Core i9-14900K is the flagship 24-core processor from the company, serving as a direct replacement for the Core i9-13900K. Meanwhile, the Core i7-14700K will succeed the Core i7-13700K, with both chips expected to have higher clock speeds.
While the preliminary benchmarks do show that the Core i9-14900K is up to 14% faster than the Core i7-14700K, it’s worth noting that the results are lower than the existing counterparts. In other words, it doesn’t make sense to compare these to the likes of the AMD Ryzen 9700.
The results could be skewed by lower clock speeds on the tested chips, or even engineering or qualification samples. So take these benchmark results with a grain of salt, as they may not reflect the final product.
The release of the Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs is rumored to be in October, but an announcement may come sooner than expected. Intel has an event scheduled for September 19-20, where the company may unveil the Raptor Lake Refresh.
Regardless, the performance boost from the 14900K and 14700K might not be significant, as PC Game Spotlight points out that these CPUs are part of the LGA1700 platform, which could be the last significant update for this platform.
