MTG Arena’s Lord of the Rings Crossover
Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering Lord of the Rings crossover is here in MTG Arena with the launch of Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth packs. However, collectors must act quickly to add cards from the fantasy RPG‘s newest set to their collections. The packs will only be available for two years, after which they will be removed from the store entirely in 2025. Nevertheless, players can still obtain cards from the set by using wildcards to craft them.
This time limit poses a challenge for collectors, especially for new players joining the game after the packs are no longer available. The decision also places an unusual burden on Wizards of the Coast, as the cards from the set are likely to remain in the game for the foreseeable future, requiring ongoing maintenance similar to a conventional expansion.
Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth
Regardless of the potential removal of packs in 2025, a select number of cards from the set will always be available. A full wide release for the tabletop game is scheduled for June 23. The most prominent card in the crossover is the One Ring itself, which has become a peculiar sort of valuable item, with bounties for it reaching as high as two million euros.
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth packs are available in MTG Arena starting today, with the tabletop release following on June 23. In addition to the One Ring, the packs also contain a number of valuable rarities, such as the Gen 2 Gold Unicorn. You can see all of the cards currently available in our Lord of the Rings: Adventures in Middle-earth subject list.
