The Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Obsidian Islands Location

The Obsidian Islands are a central location in the game, home to a large quest called The Battle of One Hundred Hands. These islands are best visited once the player is at least level 18 and relatively close to finishing the main story questline.

The Assassin's Creed: Odyssey map is huge, with multiple island chains to explore, each with their own dangers. The Obsidian Islands are located in the southeast of Hydrea and are home to one of these dangers, the Kosmos Cult. Politis, one of the larger islands, is the focus for this side quest and contains everything the player needs, including a trainer and an arena.

To reach the Obsidian Islands, the player needs to unlock their ship and acquire tutorials for sailing and naval combat as they progress through the story. After collecting some funds, head to the Aegean Sea and then past the Icaria islands. The islands are in the southernmost area of the map and are known for their exportation of Obsidian glass to the mainland.

There are a few collectibles on the islands, including nine loot treasures and some hidden collectible Ainigmata Ostraka. More details about these locations can be found in our Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Ainigmata Ostraka locations guide.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Politis Main Quest

To start this quest, the player is initially drawn to the island by a quest called Call to Arms. They are given the opportunity to train with Roxanna for the tournament by sailing to Hydrea. They can choose to train on Politis itself instead. The training missions include sparring, archery, and a footrace to the top of a mountain with a treasure chest at the top.

Once the player is ready, they can enter the tournament on Obsidian Island by speaking to Drakios by the Coliseum's entrance. Talking to him again will start the Battle of a Hundred Hands. This involves fighting multiple waves of enemies, mainly followers of the Kosmos cult. After defeating all of the followers, the player is confronted by Roxana, who can be spared or killed. Either option allows the player to recruit her as a lieutenant by choosing the 'Join me' dialogue option.

There's a lot more to the game than this main quest, including hidden collectibles. Fortunately, the Obsidian Islands have their own side quests which can bring the player into contact with mercenaries who can be recruited as lieutenants. There are plenty of things to do in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, including killing bosses, solving mysteries like the Origins locking rune, and visiting every Horizon Island variant.
