Outward Factions: Choosing Your Path
Want to know which Outward faction you should join? There are four in total. During the main quest, you will leave Cierzo and join one of the four. Your choice will depend on your playstyle and preferences.
The four factions in Outward are Berg, Monsoon, Levant, and Harmattan. During the main quest “Looking To The Future”, you’ll leave Cierzo and join a faction based on your chosen alignment. The base game has three factions, but the Soroboreans DLC adds the Sorobor Academy.
Where to Find the Outward Factions
You can only join one faction at a time, but you can complete quests for other factions. You’ll also venture to other cities after joining a faction.
How to Join an Outward Faction
You can only complete this quest after leaving Cierzo and joining an Outward faction. It’s the first quest in the main story, so you’ll do this as soon as you start the game.
This quest tasks you with finding a representative for your new faction. You’ll have the option to choose one of the five representatives, each belonging to a different faction. The choice you make here doesn’t affect the main story, but it gives you access to the unique quests and benefits of that faction.
Once you’ve chosen a representative, you’ll have to complete this task in order to save Cierzo. The game tells you to complete this task in 40 days, but if you’re a high-level player, you can complete it much more quickly.
How to Get the Sorobor Academy in Outward
The Sorobor Academy is part of the Soroboreans DLC and is located in the Antique Plateau. The Sorobor Academy differs from the other factions because it offers academic knowledge, commerce, and secrets. This faction is suitable for those who want to sell items and has no specific playstyle.

How to Get the Blue Chamber Collective in Outward
The Blue Chamber Collective is located in Berg, in the Enmerkar Forest. This faction prioritizes family and exile criminals instead of killing them. Joining this faction gives you a 40 HP boost and also gives you access to locked areas in Cierzo.
How to Get the Heroic Kingdom in Outward
The Heroic Kingdom is located in Abrassar, in Levant. This faction prioritizes personal freedom over anything else. Becoming a member of this faction gives you +15% all damage and is ideal for sword or gun combat.

The Sorobor Academy is located in the Antique Plateau. This faction is all about academic knowledge and commerce. It’s suitable for those who want to sell items and has no specific playstyle.
