Persona 5 Tactica

P5 Tactica, the new Persona 5 spin-off, is on the way. After Persona 5 Royal, the rhythm game Dancing in Starlight, and Q2 Labyrinths, this new Persona 5 game is a tactical role-playing game. It’s a unique addition to the series that clearly diverges from previous spin-offs like Strikers and Dancing. While Dancing brought something new to the rhythm game table, and Royal took the series into a different kind of visual novel, Tactica keeps the Persona 5 universe alive and well – and that, by itself, is a good thing.

We all desperately want more Persona 6, but Tactica keeps the excitement alive. However, its timing and narrative must compete with – and complement – the other spin-offs, and for that, it needs to hit its stride. Here’s everything you need to know about P5 Tactica so far.

What is Persona 5 Tactica?

Before we go any deeper, here’s a quick rundown of what Tactica is: it’s a tactical RPG game set in the world of Persona 5. It features the use of Personas in battles, and places a greater emphasis on guns. The All-Out Attack skill, a core feature in Persona 5, is also present.

The story follows a new protagonist called Erina, who wields a handgun and has the ability to summon Personas. She also meets a new Persona named Nadeshiko, who has a striking resemblance to Ann.

The opening boss and new character Erina also fit well within the Persona universe. However, Erina still needs to prove herself as a worthy addition to the close-knit Phantom Thieves, and her reception by the fanbase will go a long way in determining how good Tactica is.

As more is revealed about Tactica, we’ll be able to better judge its quality as a tactical role-playing game and immersive experience. For now, the reception to Erina provides a glimpse into the potential fan feedback, which is important considering Persona games always tend to share a tight bond with their fanbase.

Here’s everything we know about P5 Tactica so far:

P5 Tactica release date

The P5 Tactica release date has not yet been announced. However, we do know that it is set to release sometime in 2023. Judging by previous entries in the series, it’s safe to assume that Tactica will follow a similar release window to Strikers and Dancing in Starlight.

This means that Tactica could release in the first half of 2023, but is more likely to release in Q4. Persona 5 Royal released in December 2022, so we can’t rule out a December release for Tactica either.
