How to Play Pokemon Sleep

Want to know how to play Pokemon Sleep? The newest augmented reality game from the folks at Niantic and the Pokemon Company aims to ensure a restful night’s sleep for its users. It’s a unique concept, and one that takes some getting used to, so if you’re looking to get started with Pokemon Sleep or simply understand its mechanics, we’ve got you covered.

Pokemon Sleep Release Date

The Pokemon Sleep release date hasn’t been announced just yet, but we do know that the game is out now. There’s still a lot to learn about the game, including phone compatibility, but our guide should help you get started.

Pokemon Sleep Mechanics

The mechanics of Pokemon Sleep are fairly straightforward. The game uses the Niantic Real World Platform to project various augmented reality creatures into your immediate surroundings. These Pokemon can then be captured using a Poke Ball, just like in any other Pokemon game.

But Pokemon Sleep is designed to be a relaxing experience, so don’t expect to be challenged in the same way that you might be while playing Pokemon Go or Pokemon Let’s Go. Instead, the Pokemon that you encounter while using the app are designed to aid relaxation. As such, the creatures you can encounter while using Pokemon Sleep will all feature a ‘sleep’ designation.

Pokemon Sleep Phone Compatibility

Pokemon Sleep is compatible with most modern smartphones and tablets. The game’s website states: “Pokemon Sleep is compatible with most devices that support ARKit 2.0 or ARCore 1.5 or higher.” Apple has updated its website to state that the game is compatible with devices running iOS 11 or higher, but it’s possible that this may change to reflect ARKit 2 compatibility.
