When Pokemon Sleep: Exploring the Sleeping Habits of 807 Pokemon

Wondering if your favorite Pokemon sleeps? Some of the 807 Pokemon have vastly different sleeping habits. Some Pokemon never sleep, while others spend all day snoozing. Sleep is essential for Pokemon training and evolution, but some of the rarest Pokemon only sleep once or twice before they’re gone forever.

Awake or Asleep: The Sleep and Wakefulness of Pokemon

While some Pokemon are naturally awake, other Pokemon have evolved to be awake at all times, such as the Archeops and Braviary. However, others need to sleep in order to evolve, such as Kadabra and Machoke. Certain Pokemon keep others awake with their constant talking and others can drive anyone to sleep with their bizarre habits. Here is the definitive list of all the Pokemon that sleep and those that never wake up.

Abra

The psychic cat-like Pokemon Abra is known for its 18-hour sleep cycle. According to the Pokemon series, Abra teleports away if it feels threatened and is one of the rarer Pokemon you’ll encounter. It’s also one of the first Pokemon you’ll encounter on your journey, making it one of the easier Pokemon to catch in Pokemon Refresh.

Jigglypuff

While Jigglypuff isn’t a sleeper itself, it does put others to sleep with its lullaby. Jigglypuff matches its brain waves to induce drowsiness, so if you think you can fight against it like a wakeful Machamp, you’ll never win.

Slakoth

The Slakoth evolutionary line is inspired by sloths and has a penchant for sleeping. The sleeping Pokemon sleeps for 20 hours a day and has a lazy demeanor. It’s the perfect choice for a Pokemon to relax with on your bed, but it’s probably best not to let it near any food.

Slowpoke

The Slowpoke evolution line is perhaps the ultimate sleepy Pokemon. While its evolved forms, Slowbro and Slowking, don’t change its pace, Slowpoke is a prime example of a lazy and slow Pokemon. Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro or Slowking without changing its pace, and it’s perfect if you want a lazy Pokemon that never wakes up.

Drowzee

Drowzee feeds off of dreams and has the ability to put people to sleep. Drowzee’s spoons are a little bizarre as they are used to extract dreams through people’s noses, so perhaps it’s best to stay away from the sleeping Pokemon.

Delcatty

The Delcatty evolutionary line is apparently a feline Pokemon that loves sleeping anywhere. While Delcatty is a rarer Pokemon to find in the wild, it’s the perfect addition to any team if you want a cat that’s always asleep.

Jirachi

Jirachi is one of the Mythical Pokemon and is one of the few that sleeps. Jirachi sleeps for 1,000 years and has a wish granting ability, but it’s unclear as to whether or not you can wake it before it sleeps again.

Musharna and Munna

The Dream Eating Pokemon, Musharna and Munna, eat the dreams of sleeping people and Pokemon. They are linked to the Dream World, so perhaps it’s the ideal place for them to feed.

Darkrai

The Pitch Black Pokemon, Darkrai, has the ability to put targets to sleep with its move Dark Void. While a Darkrai puts a target to sleep, they are subjected to horrifying nightmares. Thankfully, the Lunar Pokemon Cresselia counters Darkrai’s nightmares and ensures restful sleep.

Arceus

The creator of the Pokemon world, Arceus, went into a deep sleep after its work was done. Legend has it that you can awake Arceus with the Azure Flute, granting the ability to encounter it in the Hall of Origin.

Komala

The bear-like Komala, with the Ability Comatose, never wakes up. While that might sound like a bad thing, Komala is immune to certain status conditions such as poison, paralysis, sleep, and confusion.

Snorlax

The Sleeping Pokemon known as Snorlax loves sleeping and eating. It’s a great choice if you want a Pokemon that’s always asleep. While it’s a giant and heavy Pokemon, it’s a great choice for new Trainers as it can learn a variety of moves. The Gigantamax form, which is exclusive to Pokemon Let’s Go, emphasizes Snorlax’s appetite, so it’s a great choice for a hungry Pokemon.

Mew

The Legendary Pokemon Mew is an incredibly rare find, with only a few of the cats available in Pokemon Refresh being Mew.
