Ash Ketchum voice actress Sarah Natochenny is moved to tears
The Ash Ketchum voice actress, Sarah Natochenny, is visibly moved to tears while watching the final episodes of Pokemon Ultimate Journey at SDCC, as the anime’s final trailer plays in the background. The trailer marks the end of Natochenny’s journey with the character, as she provides her voice for the first time in 16 years.
Natochenny’s heartfelt response to the trailer and the final Pokemon episodes is captured on video during the event. The SDCC audience watches as Natochenny falls silent and covers her face with her hands, before wiping away tears.
“I’m sorry,” Natochenny says, as the crowd around her claps and cheers. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It’s just… It’s just so moving. I can’t watch.”
Natochenny plays Ash Ketchum in the anime since the series’s debut in the early 2000s, and her portrayal has been widely recognized and appreciated by fans. The final episodes of the anime, dubbed Pokemon Ultimate Journey, are highlighted in the trailer, and mark the end of Natochenny’s time with the character.
The trailer also shows off some of the emotional moments between Ash and his friends, which appear to have clearly touched Natochenny.
“It’s just so amazing to hear everyone’s reaction,” Natochenny says, “because it’s so beautiful, and it’s so moving.”
Natochenny is an accomplished voice actress with several iconic characters under her belt, including Sailor Mars in Sailor Moon, and Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail.
“It’s been such an amazing journey,” Natochenny says of her work on the anime series. “I can’t believe it’s ending.”
It’s a bittersweet moment for the Ash Ketchum voice actress, as she comes to the end of a long and rewarding journey, but also prepares for the next chapter of her career.
